RANKING AND SCHEDULE

Volley Boréal has been using the MyTeam.Click application for several years  to manage game nights.

The app allows you to classify teams and produce schedules automatically.

To do so, here's what you need to know:

Team Rankings:

During the first two (2) weeks of the season, the evaluation of the level of the teams takes place. The twenty-one (21) teams are then manually ranked according to the evaluation of their level. The recreationnal is not part of the ranking (for recreationnal schedule and teams list, click here)

Formation of pools for the season:

Seven (7) pools composed of 3 teams are distributed over the seven (7) courts available for intermediate and advanced. The recreationnal uses the 8th court with 3 teams formed randomly every Monday.

Here's an example of how the pools are distributed :

Cumulative:

From the third week, teams accumulate points according to the following principle:

  • The twenty-one (21) teams are grouped under a formula making between 1 and 21 points available during game nights;

  • After each night, points are distributed from Pool #1 to Pool #7;

  • During a game night, the winning team from pool #1 will accumulate 21 points, the winning team from pool #2 will accumulate 20 points and so on until the winning team from pool #7 will accumulate 3 points. By this principle, the teams that rank second in their pool will receive 20 points, 17 points, 14 points up to 2 points for pool #1;

  • In order to establish the first, second, and third in each pool, the system is set up as follows:

    • Sorting by ratio of matches won/played between all teams;

    • In the event of a tie, sorting by ratio of matches won to played between the tied team;

    • In the event of a tie, the sorting by ratio of points for/against between the tied teams;

Here's an example of a tiebreaker:

Once the points are established, the system produces the next schedule by moving the first team in the pool up one pool and the last team down one pool. So there's movement between the pools every night.

  • On the last game night of the season, we are offering a tournament with 2 of 3 matches based on the total of the season.
